-
Description
-
The Loudoun County Board of Supervisors issued a formal resolution commending the J. Michael Lunsford Middle School History Club for developing the Conklin Village Project, which highlighted the African American heritage of the area surrounding the school. The project recognized the historic Conklin Colored School, Settle-Dean Cabin, and Prosperity Baptist Church, all of which were established by freed Black residents. Students created a mural and model cabin to honor the site’s legacy. The resolution acknowledges support from educators, historians, and community members.
