On April 26, 1927, G.H. Smart wrote a letter to Superintendent O.L. Emerick of Purcellville, VA on behalf of the patrons of Lenah School, requesting that their current teacher be re-elected for the upcoming school year. The letter, signed by all patrons except Mr. H. Byrne, praised the teacher's dedication and interest in the school and students. The patrons expressed their dissatisfaction with Mr. Byrne and urged the School Board to give careful consideration to re-electing their current teacher for the 1927-28 academic year. The letter was signed by several prominent community members including George Powell, Mrs. R.L. Allison, Mrs. James Leel, Mrs. X C. Poland
