May Belle Kemp, a female teacher of Native American descent, was born in 1906 in Virginia. She graduated from Hawisonbing College in 1925 and held a degree. Kemp taught at Arlington School from 1925-1928, instructing grades 1-3 and earning positive reviews for her teaching abilities and professionalism. She was noted for her natural ability, scholarship, and professional training, scoring a total of 90 out of 100 on a teacher evaluation. Kemp was praised for her preparation of both herself and her students, as well as her ability to engage with the community and support her colleagues. She left the teaching service for unknown reasons after the 1927-1928 school year.
